It is Presidents Day and in the Englin abode we're celebrating America's mostly bloodless history of transitions from one President to the next, and many but definitely not all of the flawed men who have held our nation's highest elected office.
I keep thinking about responsibility, (public) risk and (private) reward in the context of climate disaster. Though we could put it in the context of pandemic response, health care, food safety, clean water and, of course, technology (from media platforms to fundraising). At one time it would have been natural to presume the government has responsibility for protecting the public from undue risk.
